MILWAUKEE, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced plans to add and upgrade cell sites across Wisconsin as part of its 2011 initiative to deliver the nation's most-advanced mobile broadband experience.
The Wisconsin network enhancements are part of AT&T's plan to invest in the $20-billion range in its national wireless and wireline networks. The investment will support plans to enable 4G speeds over an increasing portion of the country throughout the year, including the planned initial launch of LTE beginning mid-year and the deployment of enhanced backhaul connections that enable 4G speeds**.
The 2011 investment will also support the build and upgrade of thousands of cell sites nationwide designed to increase network speed, coverage and reliability for both mobile voice and broadband services. AT&T also plans to install additional radio "carriers" at more than 30,000 cell sites nationally this year, enabling new layers of spectrum capacity to carry larger volumes of mobile broadband traffic. This additional capacity enables AT&T to support rising mobile data traffic volumes, which have increased more than 8,000 percent over the past four years. AT&T has already invested more than $100 million in its Wisconsin wireless and wireline networks in the first half of 2011.

On an annual basis, this increases Verizon's dividend 5 cents per share, from $1.95 to $2.00 per share.
The quarterly dividend is payable on Nov. 1, 2011, to Verizon Communications shareowners of record at the close of business on Oct. 7, 2011.

Student response to the DStv Eutelsat Star Awards organised by MultiChoice Africa and Eutelsat Communications, has exceeded all expectations for its first edition. With final submissions coming in on 26 August, the total number of entries from secondary school students reached more than 500.
The DStv Eutelsat Star Awards take the form of a competition open to 14-19 year-old students in 42 countries. Students were invited to write an essay or design a poster on satellite technology and how it can assist further development of their communities, country or the African continent. The overall winner will be invited to see a live rocket launch and to visit Eutelsat's satellite installations in France. The winner of the Second Prize will visit Eutelsat in France and Merit award winners will win a trip to Johannesburg to see DStv's technical facilities and television studios at the MultiChoice Africa offices. They will also tour the Mindset education broadcasting facilities.
Following the designation of country winners by local juries set up in each participating country, a final international jury will meet in South Africa, Johannesburg on September 12 to select the overall African winners.
This prestigious international jury will be chaired by Professor George Smoot, astrophysicist and Nobel Prize winner for physics in 2006. He will be joined by representatives known both for their commitment to development, education, science and technology, and to building science skills among African school children. About the Battery Industry
Batteries represent about $36 billion in revenues today and are expected to grow to more than $50 billion over the next five or so years, with rechargeable batteries leading the way. The growth will take place worldwide.
The hybrid vehicle battery, which accounts for 1.7% of the world's rechargeable market, is expected to grow to 4.2% of the market by 2013. This surge is based on conservative assumptions about hybrid car growth.
